Site Privacy Guard settings
Control what the extension observes and what stays on this device.
Monitoring
Observes selected attempts involving location, camera/microphone, clipboard reading, screen sharing, and file selection. Actual private values are never recorded.
Requires access to HTTP/HTTPS pages and navigation events. Records hostname and visit time, plus relevant destination hostnames—not page paths, request payloads, or IP addresses.
Permissions and privacy
- Website access: needed to monitor selected page feature calls and request destinations. Monitoring may miss or be bypassed.
- Navigation events: records main-frame website visits from the time the extension is installed. It does not read or import your previous browser history.
- Tabs and storage: groups findings by website and keeps up to 500 events per hostname until you delete them.
- Notifications: can show an alert for sensitive requests. Browser or system notification settings may hide it.
Important: this extension warns; it does not block. Use your browser’s site permissions to block location, microphone, or camera. Blocking a feature may make it stop working on the website.
To reduce tracking, consider disabling third-party cookies, clearing site data, and declining permissions you do not need.
Detection limits
“Allowed” means an observable browser API succeeded; it is not proof of server storage. File selection does not prove an upload. Websites normally see your public IP when connecting, but Site Privacy Guard does not look it up. Tracker names use a small heuristic that can be wrong. HTTPS encryption prevents seeing what information a request contains.
